There are various ways to increase the sustainability of a promotional vehicle campaign, and some setups are more environmentally friendly than others.
Less power intensive setups, can be run on stored renewable energy, and our Supersized Bug has recently had solar panels installed as well as running off batteries. However, we are still aware that we can’t at this time run solely off renewable power.
That’s why it’s important to compensate for your environmental impact, and one way to do this is through a carbon offsetting scheme. There are many companies that allow you to buy carbon credits against your emission, offsetting your impact.

It’s incredibly important to know where your money is going and that the company is performing the service you are paying for – making an environmental contribution that wouldn’t otherwise happen without your donation.
Companies you can trust will show real case studies, verified projects and valid certifications.
Ecologi was founded in 2018 and the company has quickly risen in popularity for its simple and honest approach to offsetting.
They are a certified B Corporation and have high reviews on trustpilot, so far they have had 67.9 million trees funded and 2.7 million tonnes of CO2e avoided.
Here at The Bug Club we use Ecologi and find it a very simple and effective way to offset the carbon we emit from travelling to our events.
Native Energy was founded in 2000 and has many awards and certifications. They have a very useful calculator that lets you estimate your environmental impact and the cost of offsetting it.
Native Energy is also a certified B Corp which means the same as Ecologi it has met rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.
3 Degrees was founded in 2007 and is another great option for carbon offsetting. They focus on businesses in particular and supported the first community solar programs in the US.
They’ve won B Lab’s best for the world award in 2013, 2016 and 2018.
Founded in 2005, Clear has many years of experience in the offsetting industry. The website features useful calculators to estimate an individual’s carbon footprint.
The company has exceeded QAS standards for over a decade and attained B Lab certification. Clear has won B Lab’s Best for the World Company in the Environment category in 2022 – what an achievement!
EcoTree, founded in 2016, is a sustainable solution for flourishing businesses and is a reforestation specialist. Despite it being a relatively young company, it has quickly risen in popularity thanks to an innovative forestry model and transparent ethos.
Rather than just planting the trees, clients essentially invest in sustainable forestry, purchasing trees that will eventually be cut down. Then more land is bought and more tree planted. Now whilst this may sounds like a strange company to invest in, trees will always be cut down so it’s better for them to be cut down and 3 trees planted in their place.
EcoTree is also a certified B Corp.
